I stayed in Fort Collins, Colorado (USA) between September and November 2009 with my grandparents (who I hardly knew before) and it was a very interesting experience. I had a lot of fun getting to know my grandparents better and looking through their old photo albums but, as a result of generation gaps, we didn't always get along. My grandparents are very old-fashioned and conservative and spent a lot of time in Alabama when they were younger. I, on the other hand, basically grew up in Southern California and was born decades after the Great Depression so, naturally, my outlook on life differed from their theirs in several respects which led to some disagreements regarding religion, politics, etc. Still, it wasn't a bad experience and I do not regret my decision to spend some time with them but it is nice to be back in California where everything is familiar.
